I didn’t go shopping on Boxing Day, but I did find a few Boxing Day Specials.
I got up early and went out with my camera and took a few shots. It has been awhile and it felt good to be out in the fresh morning air with camera in hand. I went to a friends house to check out her bird feeders. The birds slept in , but the squirrels were out and about, hustling, and bustling, gathering up some nuts for breakfast. They were fun to watch and photograph, as I swept the dust off my camera so to speak , and starting clicking away.
There were Black, and Grey Squirrels, and some in between. They never cease to amaze me, as I watched them running across this fence with barbwire on top, and it didn’t seem to hinder them at all. They are so sure footed as they run on almost anything, and jump from tree to tree, up and down and all around. I had so much fun watching them. Soon after a few birds flew in to see what was on the bird feeder menu. I will save them for another day, or maybe until next year. Ha! Which isn’t too far away. :)
I want to thank you all for your friendship, and all that you have added to my life through your wonderful and unique Blogs, this past year. Thank you for visiting my blog also, and leaving your comments, and kind words. Thank you for your love and support, and encouragement, and sharing.
I am not sure where this new year will take us or the world. We live in a fast moving world where things can change very quickly for the good, or the not so good. I am an Optimist at heart and I do look for God's Beauty in His Creation that surrounds me each and every day. I see the good, and I see the bad in this world, but I try to live my life by Faith, Hope and Love, and that is what I pray for each one of you, as we continue this journey of life. May we all embrace it, for life is precious and each one of you are Precious!
Have a wonderful and safe time as you celebrate the birth of the New Year. In closing I leave you with this little story called, "The Optimist".
The Optimist
The optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimists, the hole.
Quote by: McLandburgh Wilson
Their is a story of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist." Everything is coming up roses!" he would say. The other twin was a sad and hopeless pessimist. He thought that Murphy, as in Murphy's Law, was an optimist. The worried parents of the boys brought them to the local psychologist.
He suggested to the parents a plan to balance the twins' personalities. "On their next birthday, put them in separate rooms to open their gifts. Give the pessimist the best toys you can afford, and give the optimist a box of manure." The parents followed these instructions and carefully observed the results.
When they peeked in on the pessimist, they heard him audibly complaining, " I don't like the color of this computer... I'll bet this calculator will break... I don't like the game... I know someone who's got a bigger toy car than this..."
Tiptoeing across the corridor, the parents peeked in and saw their little optimist gleefully throwing the manure up in the air. He was giggling, "You can't fool me! Where there is this much manure, there's got to be a pony!"

Hi Dianne, I hope you have a good New Year in 2011 too!
ReplyDeleteHi Dianne,
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I love the squirrel pictures and also like your header picture, beautiful. I always enjoy your posts and pictures Dianne, thank you for your fellowship on here and your prayers and concern. Wishing you a peaceful new year, my friend and many blessings along the paths you take, old or new. Love and Hugs - Nita
Oh love it - adore that little black squirrel!!!! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGosh, Dianne, I loved every bit of this post tonight. It started with your side bar titled "A New Year" and I was hooked. Then I saw the black squirrel and I've never seen a BLACK squirrel in my life! How gorgeous was that! And then I came to the story of the optimist. Perfect and so wonderful. I know a number of those pessimists, but thank goodness I know a few of those optimists, too. I guess you know which way my vote would go. Just recently, someone said in print that I was "so sunny" that they had to ck their sugar levels. It was not meant to be complimentary. At first when I saw that, it was like a knife, but then I thought about it and realized that in the long run I felt sorry for a person that felt the need to bring down someone/or the rest of the world by negative comments. Very sad for them. I mean, everyone has bad, bad days and could cuss up a blue streak, myself included, but I'd far rather think of the good and spread that instead. My mother once told me that old adage, "if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all". For the most part that is SO true. I wonder what benefit that other writer got when he said what he said.
ReplyDeleteSo, before I write an entire blog here (surprised?), let me say Happy New Year to you, Dianne, and I am SO glad we are friends. You bring warmth and joy into my life every time you write. XOXOXO
Dear Dianne, May this New Year bring many opportunities your way, to explore every joy of life and may your resolutions for the days ahead stay firm, turning all your dreams into reality and all your efforts into great achievements. ReplyDeleteCool cold snow, and I love your find of nature outside. Makes me want to run thru it all, but don't want to mess it up or make myself any colder. Wonderful nature shot.

Awesome photos Dianne, Happy New Year, & cheers to a new year full of great photos & stories!
ReplyDeleteFor most the grumpy people here, Squirrels are considered to be another pest, I think their fantastic little, smart animals! Their is one that lives near my place of employment, but he is lighting fast & by the time I get my camera he is gone!!!!
Michael

I have the Blue Jays coming to my feeders but they see me and are gone.
ReplyDeleteLove yours. Great shot.
Thanks Lisa, I find you have to be very still, quick to shoot, and hiding behind my tripod. It takes alot of time, and patience to capture these birds. I love watching them.
ReplyDeleteLisa you have some amazing bird photos on your blog. Some of the best I have seen. :)
Thanks Dianne for the tips and the complement and I just stopped to check on you.
ReplyDeleteMy sister in Law called and we went down memory lane tears and all with grateful hearts that my brother Andre now has a new body and is free to walk with God..How amazing is that and I miss him.
Love and Hugs
Oh you take such lovely photographs here in your blog. Thank you for sharing. :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved that story of the twins. :-) Well, I really hope that his parents did give him a pony on his next birthday or birthdays. Lols! Something good is always right up the corner... and a pony could be one of those, who knows!!
Comes to mind now.. that a rainbow comes after the rain. A blessing comes after a trial. In life, there are many opportunities to see how God dispenses good in our lives. Sometimes with clarity and sometimes after so much drama and even sometimes after a long dark night. But whatever way he does it, it will always be for our good -- to train us in our faith, to mold us into optimists. Lols! Manure before a pony... that kid sure has learned early what some of us learn so late or with much difficulty.
Hahahah... I've been rambling here. But the piece so inspired me with some thoughts. Pardon me pls.
Once more, a happy and blessed new year to you and your family. God bless!
Thank you so much Ellen. I appreciate all you had to say, and I needed to hear it. You encouraged me tonight, and God used you to speak to me, concerning some things I am going through at the moment. God Bless you. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa for your unending encouragement, thoughts, and prayers. God Bless you.
xx's Dianne :)
God loves you, Dianne. :-)
ReplyDeleteJeremiah 29:11 --- "For I know what my plans for you are, plans to save you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and to give you hope."
