The Birdhouse Café Series

Male Cardinal Enjoying The Berries

There aren’t many leaves left on the trees, but there are berries, and birds. That is one thing I like about this time of year. You can see and spot a bird even in the distance. One thing for sure, you can’t miss the beautiful red Cardinals. They are one of my most favorite song birds. I love listening to them whistling. This time of the year has so much beauty to see, and hear. All one has to do is look beyond the bare trees, and see God’s little treasures no matter the Season.

It always takes me awhile to adjust to this time of year. It is like I have to learn to refocus and look beyond the grey skies, and dark clouds that hover above, and the colder weather.

The time really does fly by and even if the weather is cold, and sometimes damp, I am reminded of a few things about this time of year that I love.

I love sitting by my small fireplace curled up with a good book, and a nice hot beverage and  my little dog lying by the fire enjoying the warmth, keeping me company.

I love waking up in the morning feeling all warm and cozy and the feel of  flannelette sheets.

I love the seasonal foods such as homemade soups and stews.

There are others things I like about this time of year also.

So I will try not to dwell on the things I don’t like , and make the best of the things I do love. I do have my moments like everyone else but I am reminded of so many things I am thankful for.

Hope to find you all well. Hope this week is kind to you all.

Love and Care

Dianne :)

And when you offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, offer it of your own free will ... Lev 2:29.

  1. I love Cardinals, but don't see them here. Yes, there is so much beauty in every season.

  2. Hi Dianne, Very nice picture. So far I'm not minding the weather too much. I'm waiting for some pretty snow though, although I hate driving in it. I hope you have a nice week!

  3. Cardinals are exhotic for me, because like Ruth said, they are not here where I live either. That bright red would be something to relish. Meanwhile my other backyard birds are going crazy at the feeders.

  4. I'm with you Dianne...there's something so nice and cozy about this time of year. I try to think that my life is like the seasons...sometimes it's okay to rest...enjoy and just be.

  5. Perfect Cardinal approach among the branches, is a beautiful bird, as well as the image you have achieved from it.
    A greeting
Now I have a translator on the blog, thanks for your appreciation, I hope you use it at some moment.

  6. I love the Cardinal and I think they like us too because they stay here all winter long. beautiful!!

  7. Schönes Bild ein Farbtupfer.

  8. The Cardinals are a very beautiful bird, I have only seen them once in the Edmonton area about 35 years ago in spring. That bird must have lost his way to be here in Edmonton.

  9. We used to live where that was the state bird...delightful creature to be sure. I've not seen one in a very long time. Frankly these days I see little more than Mallards and Canadian Geese...all of which I like but am really familiar with them. I hear our Thanksgiving is supposed to be really quite warm. I have no problem with that! Seasons do pass quickly so it's best to enjoy all we can when we can.

  10. I love how you express yourself, D. You paint pictures with your words and I long to feel the warmth of the fire in your home and knit alongside you!

  11. It takes me awhile to get used to the change in seasons too, but the blessings are there when I look for them. Happy Thanksgiving, Dianne.

  12. the red bird, so popular, neat shot in his dining room

  13. Thank You everyone. It is late here. I will be by to visit you all soon.
Happy Thanks Giving to all my American Friends.
    xx's Dianne :)

  14. Hi Dianne,

Lovely post as always. I just loved the comment you left on Kerrie's blog too.

So, as we all try to be thankful and concentrate on the positive, may you have a wonderful weekend ahead and lots of seasons blessings.

    Love and Hugs - Nita

  15. Dianne, I certainly agree there is an adjustment period getting ready for winter. We out west are getting cold, warm, snow, & now they are calling for rain today! Beautiful picture, nice & sharp, clear..

  16. That is such a beautiful bird Dianne , that is a very good shot to. You are right about those cosy moments we so enjoy this time of year. Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving. Hugs Sheila and Wile-e xx

  17. Can I sit by the fire and knit with you and Gail.
Lovely Post Dianne. Your Songbird is a Stunner.
Love the berries and dof. Great Image.
Im with you in Prayer and Spirit today.

  18. Yes Lisa, I would love that, and you and Gail can teach me how to knit. That would be a "Hoot". I don't think I would get much reading done with you two, but we would have a blast.

Thank you for your prayers and being with me in Spirit. That means more than you know. xo

  19. You do have a way of finding those special things no matter the time of the year. I too enjoy many of those you named. Your cardinal is so beautiful and so adds to the lack of color around you. God's little splash to remind you life isn't all the dreary. Special hugs for you now. Keeping your mom in my prayers. Carrie
