Male Northern Cardinal
Last week it was like summer here, but on a March day. Usually we still have snow and lots of it. This winter we hardly had snow at all and when we did it didn’t stay very long. I got off work early and decided to grab my e-book, my camera and something cold to drink, heading to sit and relax on my back deck.
It wasn’t long until I heard that sweet sweet sound of a singing Cardinal. I looked around and finally spotted him in a Spruce tree in my backyard. I slowly picked up my camera and took this picture. I waited all winter but didn’t see or hear a Cardinal in my yard until a few weeks ago. I was so excited and it has been coming back ever since. A few times he has brought his female partner with him. It has only been recently that I have been able to capture him with my camera. If I hadn’t been sitting there waiting for nature to come to me, I would have missed this opportunity. It was a perfect afternoon, and I really did need to just sit and relax for awhile. Just to be Still … Something that is so often taken for granted. For me it was something wonderful, just to sit and be still with a good book, my camera, a cold drink, and oh ya ; my little dog Jesse by my side keeping me company. :)
He decided to stop long enough to pose for me, and have a bite to eat at my Backyard Café.
Hope to find you all well and wishing you a wonderful rest of the week.
Love and Care
Dianne :)
And I can’t thank you enough for all your thoughts and prayers for my mom , my family and I. God Bless each and every one of you, and I know He does.

You are so lucky to see these great birds, we don't see them here in Edmonton. Beautifully photographed.
ReplyDeleteThank You Horst. They are one of my favorite birds, and I love how they whistle. I decided to start my own Backyard Cafe this past winter. I was so excited to finally see a pair of Cardinals visiting my feeder. I am hoping they nest near by and maybe I will have some baby cardinals come for a visit in the next few months. Spring is such a wonderful time of the year. :)
DeleteGorgeous shots. wow. Love them Dianne.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Nice to read you did take sometime with your camera in hand.
I know it makes you so very happy .
xo
Thank you Lisa. Yes it felt wonderful and I was so Blessed that I got to just sit back and have nature come my way. I had several other visitors that afternoon, including a beautiful rabbit. Maybe I will post him at Easter. :) It felt wonderful to have my camera in hand. :)
DeleteYour new header is a stunner. Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHope your rest of the week is good.
Thank you Lisa. I took that picture the same afternoon as the cardinal. The Chickadee was perched on the Lighthouse feeder my son gave me for Christmas.
DeleteHope the rest of your week is good also my friend. :)
Yes,we all need to learn to sit and allow nature to come to us. Be still and Know that i am God.These words just came to mind.Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ruth for that wonderful Word of God. Seems I need to be reminded of that at times as I get so very busy as we all do.:)
DeleteBeautiful! We have had more cardinals than i remembered in previous years...such a splash of color! My mom loves to watch he birds when she is here...continued prayers for your mom.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love cardinals. They are one of the few birds that stay here all year round.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful picture of a beautiful bird Dianne! We haven't lived in a place where Cardinals frequent in many years. One year we had some Cedar Waxwings visit and it was a real treat but this year nothing so exotic...not even the Western Meadowlarks that I love so much...nothing beats their song! Have a great day my friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Dianne,
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed looking at your bird pictures and reading your words.
Please God, your Mom will continue to improve.
Take Care - Hugs Nita
I like what you said about nature coming to you. Some things you just can't force.
ReplyDeleteHe sure is a Beautiful bird Dianne and you certainly captured the moment. Don't you just Love Spring, there are a lot of birds building nest in my garden. There has also been a very welcome visitor The Song Thrush, he belts out such wonderful tones , he stayed all week. Last year I didn't get a visit from him at all, so it made it more enchanting.
ReplyDeleteHope your mum continues to improve Dianne.
Hugs Sheila and Wile-e xx

ReplyDeleteOH OH OH, the Red Cardnial is your backyard bird???? I have never seen one in real life. Thank you for posting this beauty of a bird. That red is darn right stunning. Wouldn't it be fun to trade backyards for a week or two? I have often thought of this with other bloggers. It is so heart warming to have people like you that share such great photography with everyone.
