Portrait Of A Canada Goose

I took this photo back in July of this year. I was out for a walk along the water front trail, and I came across some Canada Geese. This one got my attention and I was close enough that I could have touch him. I would never attempt to do that. I have a great admiration, and respect for these Beautiful Water Fowl.  There are those who don’t share my love for these birds and think they are a nuisance. I understand their reasons but I don’t share their view.  I wonder if sometimes Canada Geese think we are a nuisance and get in their way. :) Just a thought! I really think this planet is big enough for all of us to share, and show each other a little Grace.

I love watching and listening to the geese as they fly in formation this time of year, as they prepare to fly south for the winter. They haven’t left yet, but they are practicing and training their young ones for the journey ahead.

Yes, there is a change in the air as we also prepare for a new season that is on our doorstep. We have a few more days of summer so enjoy them, and for all those who are looking forward to the long weekend, Have a good one.

Happy September one and all.

Love and Care

Dianne :)

  2. I love the geese too... They are God's creatures as well. I don't much care for the people who call them nuisances either. My bad I know.

  3. I can for sure feel the change of the seasons. It was about 30-40 degrees cooler today then it has been. I haven't really seen the Canadian geese flying in V formation but I know it won't be long at this rate. They flock around and leave a terrible mess in the golf course...but I don't play golf so I don't get as irritated as some people do!

  4. Anita, One characteristic of all living birds is the lack of teeth. However, some birds have serrations on the edges of their bills which are sort-of tooth-like.

Many geese do have these serrations to help them bite off the grass that they eat.

  5. I agree with your words. I love nature so it is. It is nonsense to criticize her something. We are a part of it. Beautiful photo. Nice Friday! Peter.

  8. Dianne, what beautiful shots. I love seeing the serrations that I call their "teeth". When I showed such a thing in my MSN blog and called them teeth, I got comments about not knowing they had teeth. I have since learned to keep my little descriptive thoughts to myself. :-)))

I LOVE them in your flying overead shot. I got one at dawn one morning here at the house out on the deck...rosey sky, azure blue streaks..them in sharp relief against all that with their dark seeming bodies and lo! Blurry. Broke my heart!!

Hope the babies are well and thriving as I'm sure they are. Kisses and gentle hugs to them. Hugs to you and Steve. xxoo

  9. My back yard is filled with Canadian geese this time of year in the early morning hours. They are beautiful to watch, but rather nasty. However, you are right, there is room here for us all and I do enjoy watching them.

  20. Diane I share your comments on the route of the geese. Such a lovely sound to wake up to for me each morning. I hear them over our home each morning now.
I agree with your views on all levels of the seasons and how the animals tell us what is happening. Flight now tells us summer is ending. Your photographs are always incredible. Such detail, light, color, it is a delight to follow your blog.

  25. Hi Dianne, I agree with you, there is room for all of God's Creations. I hear on our local radio station today that a debate is brewing about whether or not people should be shooting Magpies. Oh my, they are beautiful birds. Like any parent, they defend and protect their babies. I hope that people won't start or be allowed to shoot them. Hope your day brings you joy and goodness. All God's Best, Kerrie xOx
