Wishing You A Happy New Year

IMG_9362 Squirrel 2

I didn’t go shopping on Boxing Day, but I did find a few Boxing Day Specials.

I got up early and went out with my camera and took a few shots. It has been awhile and it felt good to be out in the fresh morning air with camera in hand. I went to a friends house to check out her bird feeders. The birds slept in , but the squirrels were out and about, hustling, and bustling, gathering up some nuts for breakfast. They were fun to watch and photograph, as I swept the dust off my camera so to speak , and starting clicking away.

IMG_1620_Scampering Squirrel

There were Black, and Grey Squirrels, and some in between. They never cease to amaze me, as I watched them running across this fence with barbwire on top, and it didn’t seem to hinder them at all. They are so sure footed as they run on almost anything, and jump from tree to tree, up and down and all around. I had so much fun watching them. Soon after a few birds flew in to see what was on the bird feeder menu. I will save them for another day, or maybe until next year. Ha! Which isn’t too far away. :)

I want to thank you all for your friendship, and all that you have added to my life through your wonderful and unique Blogs, this past year. Thank you for visiting my blog also, and leaving your comments, and kind words. Thank you for your love and support, and encouragement, and sharing.

I am not sure where this new year will take us or the world. We live in a fast moving world where things can change very quickly for the good, or the not so good. I am an Optimist at heart and I do look for God's Beauty in His Creation that surrounds me each and every day. I see the good, and I see the bad in this world, but I try to live my life by Faith, Hope and Love, and that is what I pray for each one of you, as we continue this journey of life. May we all embrace it, for life is precious and each one of you are Precious!

Have a wonderful and safe time as you celebrate the birth of the New Year. In closing I leave you with this little story called, "The Optimist".

The Optimist

The optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimists, the hole.

                                           Quote by: McLandburgh Wilson

Their is a story of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist." Everything is coming up roses!" he would say. The other twin was a sad and hopeless pessimist. He thought that Murphy, as in Murphy's Law, was an optimist. The worried parents of the boys brought them to the local psychologist.

He suggested to the parents a plan to balance the twins' personalities. "On their next birthday, put them in separate rooms to open their gifts. Give the pessimist the best toys you can afford, and give the optimist a box of manure." The parents followed these instructions and carefully observed the results.

When they peeked in on the pessimist, they heard him audibly complaining, " I don't like the color of this computer... I'll bet this calculator will break... I don't like the game... I know someone who's got a bigger toy car than this..."

Tiptoeing across the corridor, the parents peeked in and saw their little optimist gleefully throwing the manure up in the air. He was giggling, "You can't fool me! Where there is this much manure, there's got to be a pony!"

A Gift Of Love

DSCF4491Merry Christmas Wreath

Christmas is a gift of Love

that can't be bought or sold -

It's ours just for the asking,

and it's worth far more than gold ...

And this priceless gift of Christmas

is within the reach of all -

The rich, the poor, the young, the old,

the greatest and the small ...

So take God's Christmas gift of Love -

reach out and you receive -

And the only payment that God asks

is just that you believe.

Away In A Manger

IMG_8173_ The Nativity

Mat 1:23
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Away in a Manger

Away in a manger,

No crib for His bed

The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay
The cattle are lowing
The poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side,
'Til morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus,
I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children
In Thy tender care
And take us to heaven
To live with Thee there

Away in a manager is always the first carol that children are taught. Away in a Manger was originally published in 1885. The publication of Away in a Manger was in a Lutheran Sunday school book and this created the misconception that the lyrics of Away in a Manger were actually written by Martin Luther himself. The author is unknown. The music to Away in a Manger was composed by William J. Kirkpatrick in 1895.

…………………………………………………

I can still remember as a little child, singing this Christmas Carol, at my grandparents house, many years ago, and my grandparents all have gone to Heaven to be with Jesus , who is no longer that little baby in a manger. He grew up, and died on a cross, for the sins of us all. He rose from the dead, and after being seen by his disciples , and over 500 people, returned to Heaven, and said He would one day come back, (Acts Chapter One), for those remaining on the earth who believed in Him, and had Faith in Him, and became His Followers, making them Children of The Living God.

I am one of those who believe , and Jesus is the reason for the season. He is the True Meaning Of Christmas. He is The Messiah. He is Emmanuel which means , God Is With Us. Can you imagine, God stepping out of Heaven, and taking the form of a human baby. Jesus was fully human, and fully God. Some will scoff, and say, “How can you believe such a thing”? I believe God’s Word, the Bible. It is called , Faith. You can read it for yourselves this Christmas , and come to your own conclusions, and pray God shows you who He really is and why He came to earth as a baby lying in a manger. If you truly seek Him you will find Him, and He will change your life forever.

I know it is early but I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Sincerely Dianne :)

Who Will Take The Son

A Winter's Morning Down By The Bay Of Quinte

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection from Picassos to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art. When the Viet Nam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son. About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door.

A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands. He said, “sir, you don’t know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your love for art.” The young man held out his package. “I know this isn’t much. I’m not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this.”

The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young man.

He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears.

He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture.

“Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It’s a gift.”

The father hung the portrait over his mantel. Every time visitors came to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected.

The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his paintings.

Many influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great paintings and having an opportunity to purchase one for their collection.

On the platform sat the painting of the son. The auctioneer pounded his gavel. “We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?” There was silence. Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, “we want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one.”

But the auctioneer persisted. “Will someone bid for this painting.”

“We came to see the Van Goghs, the Rembrandts. Get on with the real bids.”

But still the auctioneer continued. “The son! The son! Who’ll take the son?”

Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the long time gardener of the man and his son. “I’ll give $10 for the painting.” Being a poor man, it was all he could afford.

“We have $10, who will bid $20?”

“Give it to him for $10. Let’s see the masters.”

“Ten dollars is the bid, won’t someone bid $20?”

The crowd was becoming angry. They didn’t want the picture of the son. They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.

The auctioneer pounded the gavel. “I’m sorry, the auction is over.”

“What about the paintings?”

“I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the paintings. The man who took the son gets everything!”

God gave his son 2000 years ago to die on a cruel cross. Much like the auctioneer, his message today is, “the son, the son, who will take the son?” Because, you see, whoever takes the son gets everything.

One January Morning By The Bay

These photos were taken from my archives. We are finally getting some snow today. It was beginning to look like we might have a green Christmas, but hopefully the snow will stay this time. It has been falling steadily all day. It looked like dancing snowflakes , soft and light. I did have a very busy work day, among other things and was unable to get out with my camera. It has been awhile since I have been out taking pictures. Christmas is fastly approaching, and as we all are, I am doing my best to get everything done on time. It seems time just has a way of flying by. I hope you all are enjoying the Christmas Season as we remember the “True Reason For The Season”. Without Christ, there is so Christmas.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.  xx’s Dianne :) Dec.14/2010

Beyond The Sunset

IMG_7055_Beyond The Sunset

Beyond The Sunset

Beyond the sunset, O blissful morning.
When with our Saviour heaven's begun.
Earth's toiling ended, O glorious dawning
Beyond the sunset when day is done.

Beyond the sunset, no clouds will gather.
No storms will threaten, no fears annoy.
O day of gladness, O day unending.
Beyond the sunset eternal joy.

Beyond the sunset, a hand will guide me,
To God the Father whom I adore.
His glorious presence, His words of welcome,
Will be my portion on that fair shore.

Beyond the sunset, O glad reunion,
With our dear loved ones who've gone before,
In that fair homeland we'll know no parting.
Beyond the sunset forever more.

This is what Blanche Brock said about his hymn, “Beyond the Sunset.” This song was born during a conversation at the dinner table one evening, in 1936, after we diners had watched a very unusual sunset at Winona lake, Indiana, with a blind guest. We went to the dinner table still talking about the impressive spectacle we had witnessed. Our blind guest excitedly remarked that he had never seen a more beautiful sunset. Our blind guest said, “I see through other people’s eyes, and I think I often see more; I see beyond the sunset.” The phrase “beyond the sunset” and the striking inflection of his voice struck me so forcibly, I began singing the first few measures. We then went to the piano and completed the first verse. “You should have a verse about the storm clouds,” our guest urged, and the words for this verse came quickly as well. Recalling how closely our guest had walked with his wife hand in hand together for so many years due to his blindness, the third verse was soon added.

I would like to dedicate this post to my dear friend Lisa and her Family.

I would also like to dedicate this post to Carole who lost her brother also this past summer, and to all those who have lost a loved one at one time or another.

You are in my thoughts and prayers

Love and Hugs

Dianne :)

All Was Calm, All Was Bright At The End Of This November Day

IMG_9290_All Is Calm At Sunset

A Biker Sitting At The Peer, Taking In The View At The End Of The Day

IMG_9259_1 Fire In The Sky At Sunset

IMG_9269_ Cross In The Sky

A Cross In The Sky As I Looked Almost Over My Head

It was as if I were at the foot of the cross.

What a Beautiful thought and sight.

Jesus is no longer on a cross and He is Alive

and one day He will return to this earth.

Acts Chapter 1 in the Bible, tells us how Jesus was taken up

into Heaven, as His Disciples watched,

and suddenly two men dressed

in white appeared and asked them why they stood gazing

into the sky?

This same Jesus , who has been taken from you into heaven ,

will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.

------------------------------------

I wonder how many people really believe that Jesus Christ will return to this earth and what the consequences will be?

It’s all recorded in the Bible for all to read , and choose what they will believe. It is all about free choice and Faith.

We can have faith in almost anything but in the end Truth will be revealed.

We can call anything God and worship anything we choose. But I think in the end God Almighty will have the last say.

As I sit at my computer this night these are the thoughts that came to mind as I looked at the image of what I see as a cross in the sky.

These photos were taken just a little over a week ago on a mild November evening just after the sunset. It was so peaceful and the water so calm, which is somewhat unusual for this time of year. Usually it is very cold and the water very rough. I stood in “Awe” of the Beauty that was on display , and the quiet serenity of it all. Just me and two others were standing on the peer lost in our own thoughts and feelings. That was the last time I was out with my camera. It was a night to remember.

I am just getting over the flu and it was a nasty bug indeed. Our weather has changed and the days are getting cooler but still no snow. It won’t be long now as I know things can change over night. After all this is November , and I live in Ontario, Canada.

I want to wish all my American friends and anyone else who celebrates Thanksgiving this week , a very Happy Thanksgiving, and remember, “Thanksgiving is more than a Holiday, it is an Attitude. “

Yours Truly, Dianne :)

Capturing Natural Art – All Part Of God’s Creation

Not long ago on a mild Autumn afternoon, back in October, I went for a walk down by the Bay.

This is what I saw through my lens that day. God’s Creation is never ending. Each and everyday is a

New Beginning. Each and every day is a New Creation. Enjoy everyday, for it is a Gift from God above.

God Bless You and Have a Good day and weekend to come.

Times are changing

As leaves are falling to the ground.

A Tapestry in the making

Red and yellow,

orange and bronze

A blanket covers the grass

Summer is gone

Fall will soon pass

There is a chill in the air

As the wind blows

Times are changing

We can fight it

We can grin and bare it

We can accept it

We can embrace it

or some may even run from it

No matter what we do

We can't control it

Times are changing

What will be will be

Nature will take its course

For in everything

There is a Season.

Nov.3, 2010

It seems yesterday was May and I was getting ready for my son’s wedding, and now it is Nov.  I ask myself where has the time gone? I have been so busy , and it seems I haven’t been out much with my camera this Fall. I have had a lot going on and too much on my plate it seems. I have been struggling to keep up , and catch up and never seem to get there. I am tired and weary but not giving up. I love blogging , and I love visiting your wonderful blogs also, when I can.

Before we know it. It will be Christmas and a New Year. I know that now I am ahead of myself, talking of such things. Seems I am either behind or ahead of myself these days. It seems like I need to find that Life/Work Balance. I don’t think I am alone on this one. I think we all struggle , trying to balance our lives from time to time.

Sometime after the Christmas Holidays we will be putting our house up for sale, and hope to down size maybe to a townhouse condo near a park which I love, and is close to my Beloved Water Front Trail.  I would like to ask  you to please pray for us. This too can be a very stressful and a busy time. It will take a miracle for everything to fall into place, but I know God can supply all our needs according to His riches in Glory, and His Will.

Even though I haven’t been here in the last while, so many of you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I hope and pray you are all well. God Bless each and every one of you . Have a great rest of the week.

Sincerely Dianne :)

Autumn Roses In My Garden

October Rose/2010

Yesterdays Rose Still Blooming In My Garden

The Rose

Some say love, it is a river
that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger,
an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower,
and you it's only seed.
It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
who cannot seem to give,
and the soul afraid of dying
that never learns to live.
When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been to long,
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong,
just remember in the winter
far beneath the winter snows
lies the seed that with the sun's love
in the spring becomes the rose.

~ Bette Midler

Autumn Rose

If I had a rose for every time I thought of you,

I'd be picking roses for a lifetime.

I would like to dedicate this blog to my dad who was planted this past spring. He is now a Rose in Bloom, in God’s Garden up above.

In a round and about way my dad gave me a gift which I just received . My dad was not a rich man but was generous with what he had. I was able to choose that gift, and these photos were taken with my new camera. I would not have this camera if it weren’t for my dad. I think he would be very happy to know he contributed to one of my life passions. That being photography. I have a lot to learn, but it is fun learning what I love. I enjoy sharing what I see through my lens. I love trying to capture a glimpse of the Beauty of God’s Creation.

I still have roses in my garden. These are the first pictures I took with my new camera. The top photo was taken in late afternoon , and the second one was taken the next morning. I look forward to taking many more photos , and sharing some of them with you.

God Bless you all , and don’t forget to stop and smell the roses along your path, and have a wonderful week whatever you do or don’t do.

Sincerely Dianne :)

My Cross To Bear

A young man was at the the end of his rope, seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer.  "Lord I can't go on" he said. " I have too heavy a cross to bear."  The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear it's weight. just place your cross inside this room. Then open that door and pick any cross you wish."  The man was filled with relief and said, "Thank  you Lord," and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other room , he saw many crosses; some so large the tops were not visible, Then he saw a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. " I would like that one, Lord , he whispered. The Lord replied, " My son that is the cross you just brought in." When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more fortunate than you imagined.

Your Cross.....Whatever your cross- whatever your pain- There will always be sunshine after the rain. Perhaps you may stumble - Perhaps even fall - But God's always there to help you through it all!

Happy Thanksgiving

IMG_1427 Thanksgiving and Hope

~~~
A Thankful Heart
Take nothing for granted,
for whenever you do
The "Joy of enjoying"
is lessened for you -
For we rob our own lives
much more than we know
When we fail to respond
or in anyway show
Our thanks for the blessings
that daily are ours ~~~
The warmth of the sun,
the fragrance of flowers,
The beauty of twilight,
the freshness of dawn,
The coolness of dew
on a green velvet lawn,
The kind little deeds
so thoughtfully done,
The favours of friends
and the love that someone
Unselfishly gives us
in a myriad of ways,
Expecting no payment
and no words of praise -
Oh great is our loss
when we no longer find
A thankful respose
to things of this kind,
For the Joy of Enjoying
and the Fullness Of Living
Are found in the heart that is
filled with Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is more than a Holiday; Thanksgiving is an Attitude.
IMG_6868Turkey IMG_8837 Pumpkin
Happy Thanksgiving to my friends and fellow Canadians ,
and all who celebrate Thanksgiving around the world. I know we don’t all celebrate this holiday at the
same time. Next month our American friends celebrate their Thanksgiving.
I personally have so much to be thankful for each and everyday. I will be honest in saying that I get
caught up in everyday life and can be guilty of taking things for granted, and not always having a
good attitude, as can we all from time to time.  So it is good to sit and reflect on our lives, and
Thanksgiving is a great reminder of how Blessed I am .
 It is a bright sunny warm Autumn day here today. I am busy cooking a turkey dinner , and eagerly
awaiting my family, whom I am very thankful for. I hope and pray you all have a wonderful day with
friends and family. Well I had better get myself in gear. I am hoping to go for a little walk and find
some leaves to walk on as I love the sound of leaves under my feet this time of year. :) In closing I
will leave this little light hearted story, along with some very good advice. A friend sent me this in a
e-mail message this morning and thought it would be nice to share here with you.
God Bless you all , and have a Blessed Day filled with Love, Peace and a Thankful Heart.
Sincerely Dianne :)
Attitude
There once was a woman who  woke up one
morning, looked in the mirror,
and noticed she had  only three hairs on her head.
'Well,' she said, 'I think I'll braid my  hair today.'
So she  did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up,  looked in the mirror
and saw that she had only two hairs on her  head.
'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle  today.'
So she  did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up,  looked in the mirror and noticed
that she had only one hair on  her head.
'Well,' she said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in  a
pony tail.'
So she  did, and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up,  looked in the mirror
and
noticed that there wasn't a single  hair on her
head.
'YAY!'  she exclaimed. 'I don't have  to fix my hair
today!'
Attitude is  everything.
Be kinder than  necessary,
for everyone you  meet is fighting some kind of
battle.
Live simply,
Love  generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly,
and pray  continually.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to  pass...
It's about learning to dance  in the rain.
Learning From Nature
IMG_3364 Geese In Flight
Canada Geese In Formation At Sunrise
In Autumn, geese instinctively fly in a V-shaped formation when they travel South for the winter. The flock all work together in unison. As each bird flaps its wings , it reduces the wind resistance of the  bird behind it. Thus , each goose cuts an easier path for the one following it. This allows the geese to cover a greater distance than if each bird flew on its own. Some fly as far north as the Arctic Circle in the spring time and some fly as far south as Mexico for the winter. It is said, that they can soar as high as twenty- nine thousand feet. Wow! That is amazing!
When the lead goose gets weary , it drops back in the formation and allows another goose to fly point. The geese at the back of the formation honk to encourage those in front of them to keep going. The geese stay in perfect V- shaped formation , and not one goose is left behind.
Just as God has prepared geese for their migration , He also takes care of us as we journey through life here on earth. He did not create us to go it alone. He planned for each of us to be in relationship with Him and each other. Through His Grace we find comfort and strength, and He uses other people to love and encourage us along lives journey. We as believers are His arms to give hugs to others. We are His hands and feet and I believe we can make a difference in this world. We can pray but we can also put love and compassion into action. Faith without works is dead but works alone will never get us to where God intended us to be.( James : Chapter 2, Verses 14-25 ).
God shines His Light through His Creation which includes us as we are made in His Image. We can come along side and honk, so to speak , to encourage someone who is feeling the force of turbulence in their life. And when you are feeling the harsh wind on your face and feeling weary, drop back in the formation for a while to receive encouragement from God and others you can rely on , so you can gain the strength  to keep going.
In Summary: God never intended for us to “go it alone” on our journey through life. He designed us to be carriers of His Grace to encourage one another.
The Little Tree On The Hillside
IMG_5686_The Little Tree On The Hilltop copy
This little tree on the hillside caught my attention a couple of years ago. We still don't have a lot of Autumn colors unless you drive north .
I love the golden colors in the field and the little green tree that stands alone in solitude against the elements of life.
At times in my life I can relate with this little tree but no matter where I am or what season of my life God is always there and knows me like no one else can.
He is my closest friend.
I thank God for all those He puts in my path and for friends He has given me, including each one of you.
Make the best of each day. Each day that we live , love and laugh and sometimes cry is a miracle . Life is a gift! Embrace it and seek the Giver Of Life for He will make your life worth living. He is my reason for living!
IMG_5718_Field of Gold_The Bigger Picture_1
Even when the little tree stands on it's own
it is part of something bigger than itself!
Blessings my friends, Dianne :)
A Glimpse Of A Change Of Seasons
I know Autumn has arrived but I am a little behind the times, and doing a little catching up here.
For those of you who know me, know that many of my photos are taken along the waterfront trails, along the city  where I live. I decided to step back from the trails, and show you  a little of the Bigger Picture. Those who know me know how I love to walk, and bike the trails that follow the Bay, and the river that flows into it.
These photos only depict a small portion of The Bay, which is fairly large, and leads into Lake Ontario.
I decided on this hot, sunny, late summer, afternoon to take a walk along The Bay, from a distance, but did end up on part of the waterfront trail near the end of my walk. This was 5 days before the end of summer, and it was so Beautiful. I had the afternoon off work, and I just had to get out there with my camera, and enjoy the great outdoors.
I hope you have enjoyed the walk, and the view. Goodbye Summer and hello Autumn.
Have a wonderful Sunday, and remember…. When things look down, look up.
Blessings to all.  Dianne dsphotocats :)
